Equine Facility
Security at an equestrian facility is critical in today’s environment to protect the value and asset worth of the animals and for animal safety.
Fires have occurred in several race horse facilities and the horses perished in the fires. It is important to have monitoring and safety equipment in place in equine facilities regardless of the size or number of horses being housed in the facility.
Surveillance systems are also widely used to evaluate employee performance, to ensure that protocols are being followed correctly and the horses are safe and secure and are not being tampered with or altered in any fashion.
Security Innovations installs systems that are high quality, digital video and audio recording systems with every system custom tailored to the specific need, requirement and desire of the owner.
In livestock facilities some locations to consider cameras are:
Water Supplies - Secure high problematic areas.
Stables and Stalls/Work Area/Training Area/Grooming Area/Tack Room (usually takes 2 cameras) - Is procedure being followed correctly by all shifts? Parallel parlors will place a camera at each end looking in toward the center and herringbone parlors will place one at the entrance and one in the center looking toward the back).
Paddocks/Runs - Make sure all the horses are in the correct paddock, have water and are in good condition
Pregnant Mares You can have peace of mind by keeping your eye on a pregnant mare from within your house. Usually putting the camera off to one side will give a better view of the entire pen. (many times a wide angle lens may be needed)
Equipment Shed- Expensive equipment that is easy to sell is always a hot commodity for theft. Make sure this area is secure and protected.
Break Room & Time Clock - Prevent "double-punching" on the time clock and abuse of paid breaks.
Driveways- Know who is coming and going when you aren't there.
Feed Lanes - Are the horses being fed and checked according to your schedule?
Barn Entrances - Be sure no unauthorized people are coming into restricted areas.
Gates- Who left the gate open and let the horses out?
