My Alarm is Beeping...

While the incessant beeping is your security system’s way of alerting you to trouble with your system, we know how annoying and disruptive those “trouble” beeps can be.  Luckily, it is possible to silence system beeping for many alarm panels.  There are a variety of reasons that your security system might be beeping.   Below are the common causes of system beeping and the procedure for silencing it.

PROCEDURE

At the keypad, press the status (*) button and take note of the display.   It will indicate the trouble condition.  Write it down for future reference, and if the condition is not listed on this page, please call Security Innovations, Inc. for further assistance.

POWER FAILURE

In the event of a power failure, your system may start beeping.  Fortunately, most systems will allow you to silence the beeping for a period of time.  If the power is out for an extended period of time, you may repeat the procedure listed below to silence the beeping for as long as necessary.

  • Press the status (*) button on your  keypad and note the trouble condition listed

  • Disarm your security system by entering your code

  • Arm your system and immediately disarm your system again by entering your code

  • Press the status (*) button on your keypad

If this method does not work to silence the beeping, please contact Security Innovations, Inc.  We will work with you to troubleshoot and silence your alarm over the phone at no charge.

If you experience an extended power failure, your system backup battery might drain completely, which is normal.  Once your power is restored, this battery should recharge and be completely functional.  If, after 48 hours, your system has not returned to normal operations, please contact Security Innovations, Inc. for service.

LOW BATTERIES

If you are not experiencing a power outage, then your system might be beeping because of a low system or device battery.  Many systems will continuously beep to alert you that batteries need to be changed.

If, when you press the status (*) button, the display indicates a low battery, you will need to note if it is a system battery or a device battery.  If your batteries need to be changed, Security Innovations, Inc. will  provide you with the type/size battery and instructions if you would like to replace them yourself or happily come out to change them for you.  Simply call (434) 806-6469 for further instructions.

OTHER CAUSES

If a power outage or low batteries are not the cause of the system beeping, when you press the status (*) button on your keypad, the display should tell you the cause of the beeping.  Take note of the issue and contact Security Innovations, Inc. for service.

In the meantime, you may attempt to silence the beeping:
